Recently I upgraded to the Extended (paid) 5 year version and what was once a positive experience has turned sideways. I’ve been using Standard Notes for about a year now. Please feel free to email us any time at When you take the time to send us a message, we'll be sure to do the same. We're always happy to talk, whether it be a question, thought, or issue. Powerful cloud tools including daily backups of your encrypted data delivered to your email inbox every day, or backed up to your cloud provider (like Dropbox and Google Drive).Beautiful themes (like Midnight, Focus, Solarized Dark).Productivity editors (like Markdown, Code, Spreadsheets). To sustain our development, we offer optional paid subscriptions which give you access to powerful tools like: You shouldn't have to find a new notes app every year. We want to make sure we're here, protecting your notes, for the next hundred years. We made Standard Notes simple because longevity is important to us. Standard Notes is completely open-source, which means when we say your notes are encrypted with industry-leading XChaCha-20 encryption, and that only you can read your notes, you don't have to take our word for it. The ability to pin, lock, protect, and move notes to trash, which allows you to recover deleted notes until the trash is emptied.A tagging system to organize your notes (like #work, #ideas, #passwords, #crypto).Passcode lock protection, along with Touch ID and Face ID protection.Offline access, so you can access your downloaded notes even without a connection.Seamless sync across all your devices, with easy to use applications on iPhone, iPad, Mac, web browsers, and other platforms. Our focus is making it easy to write notes wherever you are and syncing them with encryption to all your devices. Standard Notes is a safe and lasting place for your life's work. Simple means it does one job and does it well. Even we can't read the contents of your notes. Private means your notes are end-to-end encrypted, so only you can read your notes. It allows you to write and sync your notes across all your devices, including your iPhone, iPad, Mac, and web browser. Free plan gives enough for anyone that just want to have their notes safe and encrypted (I have friends that are more than happy with just the Free plan), Core plan for anyone that wants to give basics edit to their notes, Plus and Pro plans are for anyone that will actually depend of SN in their lives, so for those plans you're paying for a investment, investments is not supposed to be "cheap" if you're thinking about servers, quality of life of the product, support and etc, and I can't see any other product doing the same or better.Standard Notes is a private and secure end-to-end encrypted notes app. In my view I see nothing abysmal in those plans. I'm in the early subscription, so yeah I'm paying less than the current plan, but still, do you really use ALL of those features from the Pro Plan to actually have a point to complain about the new pricing? I certainly don't (I still wish TokenVault as a separate app, so I don't use that). ![]() SN was my first subscription that I paid for any software and I don't regret any cent of it, actually it's one of the best money wisely spent that I've did, because SN is now part of my daily basis, it helps me so much, from work to personal notes. What "competitors"? I really don't get it when people complain about something, talk about alternatives to try to hate on it, but never mention any name with all the relevant pros and cons. At this rate I'll be going back to Joplin. I hate saying this, because it was until recently an app I swore by. Now I'm only using it because I've already paid for it and I hope it is one day soon whole again. Originally I bought it for peace of mind. Every time I open the app there's too high a probability it won't work right. ![]() I haven't given up, I'm still subscribed and will keep an eye on things but for every day use I'm just not inclined to put anything in it that I need to be confident I can access it whenever/wherever I am. I'm afraid to use Token Vault anymore, who knows if anything but the plain text editor will work on my phone on any given day now. If it's just plain text, even Vivaldi's built in notes functionality is faster, more reliable and costs absolutely nothing. If I don't need crypto for the content, Evernote is more reliable and does more at a lower price point. ![]() Going between multiple desktops and mobile, it is at once the app I'm least confident is going to work as I expect when opened while also being the most expensive. I understand their need to monetize, but it's unfortunate that they simultaneously hiked up the price while releasing the most unstable versions of the app I've ever used. I have not given up entirely yet, I've still got time on my sub and do want to see SN succeed.
